top 5 autumn must haves
A full-length winter coat and new leather boots, sparkling accessories and OTT jewellery, cosy cardis and cute knitted outerwear: the delights of autumn fashion are endless! Picking just a few essentials is a tricky task, though i’ve managed to round up these top five must-haves, which make perfect treats if you just can’t wait until Christmas.
5. The Tote Bag
Bracing a chilly autumn day means having to pack extra layers. Oversized bags were huge – literally – when they burst onto the fashion scene a number of years ago, dwarfing celebs like Victoria Beckham and Nicole Richie. The oversized tote has not had its day, and offers a great practical option for the autumn season. Check out this less cumbersome offering from 3.1 Phillip Lim, available at Avenue 32. This satchel-style is made from luxurious calf leather, with handy extendable side pockets.
4. The Footwear
The colder weather is a great reason to invest in a pair of leather boots which will see you through autumn and winter. For the ultimate in fit, check out Duo Boots which offers a selection of styles in a variety of calf widths. This is perfect for those struggling to find harder-to-fit thigh-high or half-zip styles. A classic pair of heeled riding boots like the Moulin is a fab option, as they can easily be dressed up or worn day to day.
3. The Coat
Another autumn essential is the full-length coat. Considering how often you will wear this item throughout the season a stylish choice in a must. Leather was a major player on Fashion Week catwalks and for those feeling slightly daunted by the prospect of leather trousers, a coat with leather detailing is a suitable alternative. Channel the biker look in a leather-sleeved coat from high street fave Zara.
2. The Scarf
Autumn evenings can be a time for elegant outfits and sleek silhouettes, though cosy outerwear for the day gives you the chance to have some fun! Foxes are a big feature of printed items this season, and add a quirky twist to an outfit. Brit brand Aubin and Wills offer this cute Denton fox print scarf in a muted autumnal tone. The lighterweight fabric makes it great for the transitional weather of the season.
1. The Dress
The classic LBD has had a makeover this autumn/winter, with elaborate embroidering and metallic detailing now de rigeur. The baroque trend has been a heavy influence, so why not showcase this luxurious and chic style by opting for a dress which will add glitz and sparkle to a night out. The best high street find has to be a beautiful offering from Karen Millen, with embroidered gold lace detail. The short length will look fab with black heels, whilst the mesh ¾ sleeves mean that you won’t be baring too much flesh. Forget ‘low key’ and instead accessorise with oversized gold earrings and a metallic clutch.
Turn heads this autumn in these stunning finds, which make perfect pick-me-ups in the countdown to Christmas!

Definitely agree with all of these, although I am lacking a coat and an LBD!

I have a number of lbd's but you can never have too many in my opinion :P x
Deleteomg, I think Duo Boots may be the answer to my prayers... really nice boots for bigger calves, no matter what size i've been throughout my life i've been plagued with massive calves (even when I was a size 10... work that one out!)
