that velvet trend
Velvet has been lingering through a number of seasons now, establishing itself as a firm trend that looks as though it'll be sticking around for a little longer. What started off as a collection of simple flat velvet or velour jackets and handbags has developed into a crushed velvet overload with mesh panels, velvet inserts on elbows and velvet kneepads on your favourite jean styles. Is it great or just awful and has the velet trend gone too far?
It's clear that velvet has inserted itself into pretty much every element of clothing and accessory there is but has it had it's day or is it just getting started.
From Missguided, ASOS and the likes of Dune and SkinnyDip smooth velour, crushed velvet and even embellished or embroidered velvet items are everywhere online and on the highstreet. Looking at this collection of stylish and on-trend items some might say that they are not one in the same. Something can be stylish and easy to wear but not in fashion and likewise many on-trend items cannot be described as stylish - It's all about personal opinion. So how do you feel about the takeover of this material? Is it for you? And would you peruse the velvet menswear looking for a gift for your other half, brother or dad?
